Drive-by Crafting

Because of my crazy work & volunteer schedules, I've been doing a lot of drive-by crafting lately.  A little bit of stamping & coloring here and some assembling & embellishing there.  Not exactly the ideal crafting situation for me, but I am grateful that I've still been able to squeeze in a little creative time.

After church on Sunday we had a Craft Day, and it was such a luxury to be able to sit down and craft and fellowship with some good friends.  I was able to "stick down" about seven 12 x 12 scrapbook layouts, and now I just need to add journaling, titles, and embellishments, and they'll be ready to share.

In the meantime, here are the Valentine's Day cards I made for my kids' teachers.

Thinking Pink

One of my dear friends just gave birth to her fifth child (her first girl!) a couple of weeks ago, and I think attending her baby shower combined with Valentine's Day put me in a pink kind of mood.

Baby shower card for my friend:

A thank you card for my daughter's prayer partner at church:

A thank you card for our school secretary (for helping clean up my daughter after she fell into a "mud pit" during recess while playing tag with an intrepid band of first graders):

I must have been subconsciously looking forward to St. Patrick's Day as well, since there is quite a bit o' the green in these cards too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs,
Marcy

Happy Father's Day!

Yesterday I got to spend some special time with my dad. We went yard saling together for the first time in quite awhile. I love going to yard sales and flea markets with my dad, who is a retired high school teacher and an antique dealer. I always learn so much from him. One thing he taught me when it comes to antiques is to buy what you love, regardless of the "book value." That way you have things in your home that you truly like and not just expensive clutter.

Our yard saling adventure resulted in four (count 'em - four!) new-to-me Stampin' Up! sets and a whimsical, vintage handmade doll that will look wonderful with my vintage candy boxes at Christmas time and for Valentine's Day. Most of all, though, I really enjoyed my alone time with my dear dad!

Here's the card I made him:

Details:
Stamps - Stampin' Up! - Knobbly Gnomes set (image); Papertrey Ink - Mixed Messages (Enjoy the Moment) & Pond Life (happy Father's day)
Patterned Paper - DCWV - Natural Mat Stack (plaid); K&Company (paisley)
Cardstock - Core'dinations - Chocolate Box (brown); Gina K Designs - Pure Luxury Cardstock (ivory)
Ink - Ranger - Adirondack - Espresso
Markers - Copic Sketch
Border Punch - Martha Stewart

For the Guys

With all of the flowery embellishments and girly scrapbooking papers out there, it can feel a bit daunting to make cards or layouts for the guys in our lives. Despite the challenge, though, I usually have a good time papercrafting for the boys.

This first card is similar to one I just made for our pastor's birthday. I'm donating this one as part of an assorted pack of cards for my daughter's school auction.

Details:
Stamps - SU! Noble Deer; Papertrey Ink - Out on a Limb (sentiment)
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye - Organic Glitter Pack
Cardstock - Neenah Paper (natural); Core'dinations Chocolate Box
Markers - Copic Sketch
Ink - Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo

On the Crafty Secrets member forum challenge this week, Lori asked us to make projects for the guys in our lives. This card will be for one of the sweet boys in my daughter's first grade class. Isn't this image fun?

Details:
Main Image - Crafty Secrets - Childhood Images & Journal Notes
Patterned Paper - K&Company - Kazoo Kids
Cardstock - K&Company
Ink - Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Accessories - tag - Crafty Secrets - Boys Alphabets & More booklet; rub ons - K&Company Kazoo Kids; embroidery floss - DMC; edge distresser - Heidi Swapp; vintage button

Thanks for stopping by today, and remember to give those special guys in your life a hug!
